Korean toast and Springer book project

Salam,

Kadang-kadang takde idea nak masak apa untuk makan malam. Kena pulak anak-anak dan my other half dah tak nak makan berat-berat, kadang goreng mee tak laku, buat sandwich tak laku, kadang buat sup cicah roti aje.

Bila dah mati akal tu sey declare, "ok harinie bebas makan apa2," maksudnya sey tak masak apa-apa lah... so anak-anak selalu akan opt utk makan ramen atau mee segera. Memang ada aje stok makanan nie kat rumah. Sey bagi kebebasan pada anak untuk makan mee segera, tapi under control.

Sey pernah kongsi cerita pada anak-anak yang dulu, masa sey kecik-kecik, mee segera nie haram bawa masuk rumah....ahahahahaha.... so selalu sey dan abang sey makan curik-curik lah. Selalu masa bonda dan abah sey tak de kat rumah. Pernah jugalah hampir kantoi, baru nak mencekik mee, sekali bonda dan abah balik, terpaksa buang ke longkang. Kadang-kadang buang ke pangkal pokok pisang. Sey rasa bonda perasan tu, yelah, nampak sisa-sisa mee kat longkang, kat pokok pisang....tapi dia buat donno aje lah...hahahahaha... 

Yang peliknya, bila abang sey masuk hostel, memang dibekalkan mee segera nie. Bila abang dan kakak sey gi overseas sambung belajar, salah satu ration hantar ke sana adalah mee segera, kadang berkotak-kotak.... hahahhahah lawak lawak...

Tapi dengan anak sey, sey tak lah strict sangat, asalkan jgn kerap.

So ada satu harinie, sey teringin lah nak buat korean toast, nampak senang kan. Kebetulan sayur kobis tak luak-luak. So untuk dinner malam nie..... Taraaaa.... sey tambah chicken slice.

Sey dengan kawan-kawan sey ada contribute satu chapter dalam buku di bawah nie. Seronoknye bila dapat publish chapter dengan publisher tersohor antarabangsa.

Ini chapter yang kami contribute "e-Service Innovation Through Malaysian Consumer Perspectives: Case Studies of e-Hailing and e-Hypermarket."

For my bookshelf: Adding to my Stephen King collection.

Salam,

As many know (chewah perasan) I am an avid reader of Stephen King. I collected his novel. Tapi tak semua ada. Miss t tanya, what did you like about Stephen King's? I said, suspense. Ntah, kadang-kadang penat juga baca sebab his style of writing sometimes made you bored, with his wordy words. But many of his books are hard not to read, in other words, can't resist. I was first introduced to his novel by my sister. She bought me Salem's Lot for my 15th birthday. Then my father bought me a few Stephen King's books, when he found I like Salem's Lot a lot. I started collecting his collection when I was in university. At that time a new book cost about RM25 to RM30. Tapi sekarang, phewwwhhhh.... If I can get used, I will buy them. Tapi susah nak dapat, biasa kalau ada orang iklan nak jual, tapi sampai 1 jam dah sold. Kuciwa. 

So recently, I slept late, was staying up because of work. Then nampak seller nie jual bukan used, banyak pulak buku Stephen King. Tapi I perasan pun dah 30 minit macam tu, masa tu dah banyak juga buku dah terjual. Cepat-cepat sey tanya seller....

Makanya.....

Dapatlah 4 buku nie. Tapi bila check dalam list, rupanya Heart in Atlantis tu sey dah ada dan dah baca...hahahahahha....Lupa nak update list oiii....

OK lah...bye.....

Current read: Satu janji RAM

Currently I am reading this book after successfully completed Jamie's Jack n Jill. I could finish the book in a week or so, but was caught with classes and work.

This is my 5th RAM book. To date here is the list of RAM books that I have read.

1. Fiksyen 302 (this book is the first RAM books that I have read, and since then I follow his book).
2. Mandatori.

3. Ranggau.

4. Ungu Karmila. 

I have a pile of RAM books waiting to be read.

From my book shelf: Jack and Jill JP

Salam,

This is another JP's novel with a twisted plot. While I was reading this book, my brain kinda playing a movie in my head. I am not aware of any movie from this book, is there?

This is my 4th JP books. I have read:

1. Along came a spider (what started me is the movie, although I have watched the movie before 2020, somehow the viewing of the movie this year encouraged me to collect JP books.)

2. Kiss the girl (I love this movie).

From my bookshelf - Tunas by Hlovate

Salam,

Just for the record, I have surpassed my reading challenge. I pledged to read 15 books this year. But I have read 17 books in total, so far, wait.... 16 + 1, 16 books and 1 comic. I found a MAD comic last week, a special edition, on sale. So I bought it. 

One of the latest books I have read is Tunas by Hlovate. Seperti yang sey gebeng kat post lepas, kat sini, sey jumpa buku Hlovate nie kat kedai buku 2nd hand. Brother kedai tu cakap nie collector's item. Orang cari buku nie sebab dah tak cetak lagi. So dia jual kat sey RM80. Sey pun percaya lah. Bila balik sey buat research, baru nak buat cheh, sekali tengok ada je yang jual bawah RM50. Cuma ye lah, tak de sangat orang jual 2nd. Ahhhh apa-apa lah.

So sey dah baca buku nie. Alah citer budak-budak hostel. Main character dia Addin, seorang budak perempuan, dan dia ada kembar lelaki. Dua-dua pergi ke sekolah yang sama. Cuma pada awal cerita tu, karektor kembar lelaki tu digambarkan seperti seorang kawan, kunun tiada hubungan. Sampailah pada satu kejadian ini, pada hari kelahiran Addin nie, kembar lelaki nie datang ke kelas prep Addin, yang pada masa tu ramai tak tau hubungan kan, so ramai yang ingat Addin nie couple lah dengan kembar dia, macam hubungan rahsia macam tu. Dan .......haaa korang bacalah. 

Buku ini best, oklah, budak-budak suke baca nie. Yang buat best ialah buku ini mengingatkan sey tentang kisah sey di maktab. Sekolah tunas nie pun coed, ada MPP macam BWP. Ada pengawas macam LDP, ada librian macam PPSP. 

OK sey bagi rating 4 out of 5.

Kami ke Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Sembilan

Salam,

Pada 11hb September yang lalu, Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan telah merasmikan pembukaan bangunan baharu Perbadanan Perpustakaan Negeri Sembilan. Perpustakaan tersebut terletak di Seremban 2. Cheh...ada macam pemberita tak sey? Hehehehe....

Seperti biasa, sey kalau bab buku-buku nie memang teruja dia lain maciam sikit. Jadi sey ajaklah my other half dan anak-anak untuk check it out. Lokasi dia kat Seremban 2 aje. Sebab sey pun tak tau kat mana lokasi sebenarnye, maka sey pun dapatkan bantuan pakcik google map. Sey nie memang ke mana-mana tempat baharu pakai google map aje. Tak pakai waze. Sebab sey tak suke 3rd party apps. Lagipun dah terbiasa guna RefDex jadi sey lebih selesa dengan interface google maps. Ok sambung citer. Bila tak tau arah tujunya, dan rely on google maps, jadi ikutlah jalan standard aka jalan jauh. Rupenya, dekat ngan AEON aje haaa...hahahahahha.... Ok Ok. Well at least sey jumpalah banyak tempat-tempat baharu.

Bila dah sampai, parking pulak issuenya. Perpustakaan ini terletak kat bangunan PKNS. So bangunan pejabat. Pejabat Sains kat situ rupanya. Parking percuma, tapi limited. Sey boleh bayangkan ini akan jadi masalah pada hujung minggu atau cuti sekolah. Tapi maybe I spoke too soon. Mungkin sebab baru bukak so sambutan dia luar biasa. Ada basement parking, tapi 95% reserved untuk pekerja, ada 3 4 aje lot parking yang tidak bernombor. Jadi kami pun parking lah. Kami pun masuk perpustakaan dan mula jelajah.

Perpustakaan ini ada dua tingkat. Tingkat bawah adalah pintu masuk, kemudian koleksi buku dan majalah. Terbahagi kepada dua bahagian. Sebelah kiri dari pintu masuk tu koleksi umum. So kat sini ada fiksyen, bukan fiksyen, majalan, buku-buku khas seperti koleksi Islam, koleksi peperiksaan dan tak ingat hehehehe... Bahagian kedua, sebelah kanan dari pintu masuk tu adalah ruang khas untuk kanak-kanak. Ada ruang smart library, education toys macam lego dan koleksi buku kanak-kanak. Selain tu ada ruang e-sport. Tapi hanya ahli aje yang boleh guna kemudahan di perpustakaan. Tetamu hanya boleh baca buku ajelah.

Di ruang atas adalah koleksi buku-buku rujukan. Ada juga koleksi DVDs. Bahan-bahan di ruang atas nie tidak boleh dipinjam. Kanak-kanak berumur 13 tahun dan ke bawah tidak boleh naik ke ruang atas.

Ruang membaca sangat selesa dan moden, carpeted, lazy boy merata, sofa, wing chair, selain meja dan kerusi. Ruang perbincangan pun ada. Terdapat sebuah cafe di hujung kiri sebelah bawah. Sey ada tinjau kejap cafe tu, ada snack macam roti, sandwich, dan macam-macam jenis kopi standard sekaranglah. 

Ramai juga yang datang. Nampak student pun ramai sebab diorang sibuk mentelaah. Tak sempat interview budak-budak nie, tapi rata-rata nampak budan Econ dan Social Studies. 

Keahlian perpustakaan ini setakat ini mereka kata percuma. Jadi sey pun daftarlah untuk kami bertiga. My other half tak nak pulak. Seorang hanya boleh pinjam 2 buah buku untuk 2 minggu sahaja. Tapi boleh perbaharui tempoh meminjam untuk 2 minggu lagi sahaja. So, secara amnya, kita boleh pinjam buku selama 1 bulan. Kalau nak renew boleh ke library, atau call sahaja.

Sempat miss t pinjam 5 buah buku.

For my bookshelf - James Patterson collection

Salam,

I am an avid reader and book collector. There are a few authors that I follow closely and books that I collected. Yes, I am a fan of Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell and most recently Joe Hill, Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson. I got interested with James Patterson when I saw the movie Along Came the Spider and Kiss the Girl. I saw the movie years ago. But on recent showing on Astro, I went google. Then the rest is history. 

Most of the books that I have are used books. I don't mind buying used books as long as the books were in good condition. I saved a lot on doing so.

Memang kalau masuk kedai buku, kerugian besar akan berlaku. Nak-nak ada diskaun yang kaw-kaw nie, kena pula favourite author. Haritu tengok kat Borders takde sale.... nyesal nanti kalau tak ambil.

Back to school, new norm vs new normal

Salam,

Sunyi je rumah petang nie. Sorang kat meja makan tengah siapkan kerja sekolah yang tiba-tiba menimbun. Dari minggu lepas siapkan keje lagak student uni sibuk nye. Bagus gak takde lah dia sibuk main game je keje.

Sorang kat atas tengah siapkan tugasan kolej. Sekali 3 tugasan madam bagi kat dia semalam. Tu tengah cakap sorang2 mengarang ayat. Bagus gak takdelah dia sibuk melukis je keje.

Si abahnye pun sibuk kat atas, membaca kalam. Mata dah mulai rabun, kala membaca, cermin mata bertenggek dihidung.

Esok dah mula sekolah. Baca SOP yang sekolah sediakan, nampak kemas dan teratur. Parents juga diminta untuk buat tempahan makanan untuk seminggu, makanan di kantin sekarang secara make-to-order. Norma baharu. Tiba-tiba teringat tuck shop kat Ironside state school.

Jumpa buku nie di used bookstore, perrghhhh harganya jgn tanya..... barang rare dah... ada sape2 yg kumpul? Buku RAM pun kalau jual used harga tak turun. Bertuah ler collectors RAM hehehe....

Hlovate, dah tulis 8 buah buku. Brader kedai buku bagitau Hlovate dah tak tulis, semenjak dah habis belajar dan sudah mula profesion sebagai seorang doktor. Dari cara cakap brader nie Hlovate nie penulis yang hebat. Tapi sey tak pernah dengar pula, takde kawan-kawan sey yang share pasal penulis ini. Mungkin sebab bukan generasi sey. Sey pun masuk goodread tengok rating Hlovate, wow boleh tahan. Balik rumah bila tanya miss y, dia pun tak pernah dengar. Tak apelah, biar sey explore dulu.

Esok dah mula bersekolah balik. Macam awal tahun je rasa. Baju, kasut, miss t pun dah tukar baharu sebab tak muat. Memang dah makin tinggi miss t nie.

New norm ke new normal? Rupenya dua-dua betul, cuma penggunaan yang berbeza.

MCO Day 18: Feeling wonky

Salam,

I woke up today, and went back to sleep immediately after. I have been up late for a few days now, slept at almost 2 am, reading Along came a spider. I wanted to finish it before the weekend ends. And as a result I feel wonky today.

I prepared lunch early today. Sotong goreng kunyit and ikan masak taucu. Ikan masak taucu the least fav dish in my family, but I love it. I love it during my childhood days. Bonda often cooked it. This type of dish susah nak jumpa kat kedai. This time I used Knife's tauchu. Sedap. You only neef to add water. Dah cukup asam garamnye.

OK... I want to go back to the book.

The tsundoku in me: Latest collection

It was quite a while that I have not buy a book for myself. Mainly because, I still have many books on my to be read list and was busy with works and travel plans. My priority is to buy used books, trying to save money spending on books (ye lah tu) plus helping the mother earth by not buying new books.

So, since my travel plan to Japan is now being cancelled, and one way to overcome the frustration is by diverting my focus to buying books. Eh pelik bena kau nie Fazid. Just by luck, I saw a list of books on the used book facebook group. So tadaaaaaa

Some of the books I bought from booksnbobs. The owner Rachel is so sweet, she even gave a a postcard and a magnetic bookmark.

Nah....tsundoku in me.....

Harris bin Potter, sebuah parodi

Lama nak tulis review buku nie, busy yang amat 2 minggu nie. 2 minggu nie diuji dengan masa; deadline geran, progressive book chapter writing, siapkan paper untuk submit kepada reviewer, rancangan pengajaran semester dan macam-macam lagi. Ditambah pula dengan kesihatan yang agak merundum disebabkan cuaca yang amat panas sekarang nie. Dengan berita jangkitan novel coronavirus (nCoV) lagi, serba sikit kita rasa risau juga kan.

OK lah. I better write a review now, kejap lagi nak balik rumah bonda. So about this book, what caught my attention is the title. I am a fan of Harry Potter, so anything that has to do with Harry Potter will give me an alert. The eye really tricked me this time. Instead of Harry, the title say Harris. Baca 2 kali baru perasan, nie bukan buku Harry lah. But I was keen to know, so I looked up in goodreads for review. For a new book and not a mainstream book, the rating and review is not that bad. Many said it is full of humour. And since it is so hard to get, I bought it from my favourite online seller, BooksNBoobs. The book is a quicker, memang pisang goreng panas. I had to place an order and wait for almost a month to get the book. And it was worth the wait.

Buku sampai, tak sempat baca dulu. So I let Miss T read first. She finished reading it in 3 days. I asked for her review, she said, "kelakar lah mama". Betul ke? She nodded her head.

So bila tiba masa iols membacanya, awal-awal lagi dah kelakar. Suffian Hakim you are a talented and witty writer. The best part is where he changed the name of the characters from Harry Potter to something local but funny and sometimes crazy name, like Just Out Beaver,  There is this one part that I love so much where the grading system is changed to something funnier, local but logically. I have wrote about this earlier, you can read it here. Mine you Suffian Hakim is a Singaporean. Tapi dah serumpun kan, I can accept his story.

I think if you are not a fan of Harry you may found this book uninteresting. But I could be wrong. The only thing that I don't like is it contains a lot of bad words, not that I mind it at all, but I regret it when Miss T read it first. Tanya Miss T, do you understand what this words mean, she said, I think I know...hahahahha... So, I would strongly recommend you to read it first before handed it to your kids, unless you kid is open-minded. You decide.

So, mana nak beli buku nie? I don't know whether Rachel from BooksNBoobs still has some copies left. You need to DM her to find out.

I gave a 5 out of 5 stars on goodreads.com, yup that much.... So that's it, my review.

Redefine grading scheme based on Harris bin Potter

Salam,

I am still reading Harris bin Potter, 50% completed. This book really makes me laugh. So far every page is interesting. I guess if you a fan of Harry Potter you will find this book amusing. A good parody. I do not know that parody can be in the form of a book, until I read Harris bin Potter. The only regret is to allow Miss T read it before me. There are a lot of vulgar and taboo words, for a 12-year-old I think it is not suitable. Thank fully Miss T is OK about it.

Today I want to write a scene from the book. There is this one part, when the school grading scheme is redefine. It is hilarious and it sound legitimate in this current trend of hipster kix. I try my best to correlate to the current grading scheme. So here goes the new grading scheme:

Highest passing grade
A to A- => F = Fuyoh!
B+ to B => PG = Power Gedega!
B- to C+ => CB = Chill, Bro!

Failing grade
C to C- => WH = Wah Heng! (means lucky in hokkien)
D+ => ROK = Rilek One Korner
D => BK = Balik Kampung
E => FK = Fly Kite (means buzz off and go do something else)

My reading pledge this year on Goodreads

Salam,

So I have completed my reading challenge for 2019. I pledged to read 15 books, and managed to find time to read 16 books. And still have 3 unfinished books on the list. As a record, here are the books I have read for 2019.

Goodreads has helped me a lot in managing my reading. I get to read people reviews on a particular book before I buy it. Helps me on saving money too....hahahaha... save money on books, boleh percaya ke?

OK for 2020, I pledged to read only 10 books. I feel that I would be very busy with academic writings and travelling this year so I don't want to promise a lot. I may exceed one or two books, I think, but that's it.
